Field Services Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic to complex installation and checkout of electric and electronic components for systems, service installed jobs, and service agreements
  • Tasks associated with maintenance and testing of switchgear / switchboard, motor controls, circuit breakers, panel boards, transformers, and surge protection devices.
  • Responsible for vibration analysis and metering, battery maintenance and testing, power monitoring, power quality, and protective relay maintenance.
  • Install wiring and connect to the power source.
  • Emergency troubleshooting of power distribution products and 3rd party equipment.
  • Perform complex service upgrades, reconditioning, retrofits, etc. for low voltage power distribution products and systems.
  • Provide instructions to the customer as well as training and technical assistance as needed regarding proper operation, routine inspections, maintenance, or adjustments.
  • Perform install, test, commissioning, and start-up of low and medium voltage power distribution equipment including switchgear and breakers.
  • Perform hands-on commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of protection and control relay

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Field Service Engineer will have 3+ years of experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical control circuits and ability to obtain certifications as needed
  • Must have experience commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting with low voltage and medium voltage power distribution systems, including switchgear experience
  • Must have 3+ years of recent experience with electrical testing (examples: primary injection testing, resistance testing, dielectric testing, thermal scans on low voltage and medium voltage electrical systems)
  • Must have 3+ years of experience with performing various electrical testing methods and electrical test sets (example: HiPots, TTR, Transformer Power Factor testing, etc.)
  • Must have recent On-the-Job or Educational Experience with the following: Interpreting protective coordination studies and testing and configuring protective relays, Reading bills of material, electrical blueprints, and power system study reports, Installation, commissioning, and maintenance of low and medium voltage power distributions systems, The arc flash and shock hazards of 13.8 kV and the following electrical equipment: Siemens GIS, AIS, WL, RL, and SB breakers and switchgear, ANSI, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and NETA codes and standards
  • Must be able and willing to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)

Qualifications

  • W2 Only, must be able to legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship
