Rapiscan Systems designs, manufactures, and markets security and inspection systems worldwide. Our products inspect baggage, cargo, people, vehicles, and other objects for weapons, explosives, drugs, and contraband, and are deployed in airports, border crossings, railway stations, seaports, government and military installations, and nuclear facilities. We are seeking a Field Service Technician based in the Philadelphia, PA area to join our team.

About the role

The Field Service Technician ensures users of Rapiscan’s maintained equipment are satisfied with its performance. This role involves installation, troubleshooting, diagnostics, repair, and maintenance support with a focus on customer satisfaction. Strong electronic repair and troubleshooting skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, repairs, and maintains equipment in the field.
  • Meets contractual requirements for metrics, reporting, and customer management.
  • Responds to emergency and non-scheduled service calls within established response time goals.
  • Drives customer satisfaction at assigned sites/locations by addressing daily service repair needs.
  • Completes all scheduled maintenance within required deadlines.
  • Documents all maintenance and repair work, submitting paperwork in the required timeframe.
  • Orders, installs, and returns parts per regulations.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment, adhering to company safety and workmanship procedures.
  • Reports all accidents and safety incidents, completing accident reports as required.
  • Completes all training courses within a timely manner with passing grades.

  • Demonstrates behavior consistent with the company’s Code of Ethics and Conduct.
  • Reports quality problems or defects to management for corrective action.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned to meet business needs.

Requirements

  • Associate of Science degree in electronics or a related technical discipline, equivalent military training, or equivalent experience (may be considered in lieu of a degree).
  • 4 years of experience in a field service environment (x-ray industry highly desired) or a Bachelor of Science degree in electronics, engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Knowledge of electronic and mechanical assemblies, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Familiarity with test equipment (DVM and oscilloscope); experience with high voltage and x-ray producing equipment preferred.
  • Clear and concise business communication proficiency, both oral and written.
  • Detail-oriented, well-organized, and self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literate: competency in MS Office Suite and aptitude for learning specialized software.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with minimal oversight.
  • Flexible schedule, including on-call, weekends, and holidays based on contractual operational needs.
  • Available for travel on short notice (0–75% by air or car, including overnights).
  • Ability to pass an in-depth background check (Sensitive Security Information, SSI).
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.

Pay

Pay may range from $34.00 to $35.00 per hour. Final compensation will be determined based on job level, geographic location, experience, skills, and education, in conjunction with market and business considerations.
