About the role
Empower Rental Group is looking for a self-motivated Field Service Technician for our Spartanburg, SC location to be the face of our company on job sites. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, managing your schedule and making critical decisions in the field. As a vital link to our customers, you will ensure their equipment runs flawlessly by performing urgent service calls, diagnostics, and repairs on our diverse fleet of heavy equipment.
Responsibilities
- Travel to customer job sites to perform urgent service calls, complex diagnostics, and emergency repairs on heavy equipment powertrain, hydraulic, and electrical systems using computer analyzers and traditional troubleshooting methods.
- Complete complex repairs to the fleet and company vehicles.
- Maintain and stock a company-provided service truck to ensure preparedness for any challenge.
- Execute scheduled preventative maintenance (PMs) and routine inspections at customer locations, including changing filters, checking fluids, and filling tires.
- Utilize a company-provided laptop or tablet to manage work orders, look up parts, and document all repairs and services in a timely manner.
- Communicate professionally with customers on-site, providing updates, explaining repairs, and training them on proper equipment use.
- Assist customers with loading and unloading fleet orders and address customer service questions as applicable.
- Support the in-house shop team with complex repairs and mentor other technicians when not in the field.
- Perform repairs on the small fleet and complete standard repairs to the fleet with or without supervision.
- Assist in lifting or moving heavy objects and drive continuous improvement in quality and efficiency.
- Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all company and customer-site safety policies.

- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Over 5 years of hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing heavy construction and/or aerial lift equipment; experience with major brands is a plus.
- Valid Driver’s License and ability to drive company vehicles per insurance requirements (may be required on a case-by-case basis).
- Excellent customer service skills for both internal and external customers.
- Self-starter who can work effectively with minimal supervision and manage time and priorities in a dynamic field environment.
- Knowledge of diesel engines, diagnostics, powertrain, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Proficiency with modern diagnostics tools and comfort using mobile technology for work orders and documentation.
- Must own a comprehensive set of mechanical tools.
- Completes rental equipment preparation by the delivery date, maintains a ready line, and achieves quality standards.
