Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive, corrective, and major maintenance on natural gas compression equipment (engines, compressors, coolers, and related systems).
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues to restore equipment performance.
- Conduct engine overhauls, compressor rebuilds, and component replacements.
- Support start-ups, shutdowns, commissioning, and optimization activities.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Solid professional communication/interface skills with customer field personnel, onsite vendors, and other employees.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in engines, rotating equipment, or heavy machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Preferred:
- Prefer at least 3 - 5 years of experience in gas compression with preference to CAT, Ariel and/or Cummins certifications and experience.
- Technical certification or vocational training in diesel, natural gas engines, or industrial maintenance.
- Prior experience in oil & gas field operations or compression services.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
- Typically, an FST’s work day consists of driving a USA Compression service vehicle to customer locations to perform repair and maintenance activities.
- The role rotates 14 days on/off away from home to our workplace.
- This position is 100% on-site and field-based; no remote or hybrid options.
- Some exposure to high noise levels in excess of 85dBA that require ear protection, as well as exposure to potentially hazardous chemicals and materials.

- A Field Service Technician (Rotator) is responsible for maintenance and service of USA Compression equipment reporting to the Area Service Manager (ASM).
- With minimal supervision and significant autonomy, the typical areas of responsibility include safely performing scheduled maintenance, maintaining and building customer relationships, and providing first line support for equipment troubleshooting.
