Duties And Responsibilities
- Aid in executing mechanical and electrical tasks on equipment used in power transmission, distribution, and generation at customer facilities.
- Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and writing diagrams to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems.
- Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and clean all components in a substation.
- Assist in the following tests: Transformer Testing, Cable Testing, and Circuit Breaker Testing.
- Participate in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment.
- Participate in safety meetings and training.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Familiarize with industry standards such as NETA, NFPA 70E, OSHA compliance standards, safety laws, and DOT regulations.
- Ability to assist in complex mechanical and electrical problems.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Must have strong PC skills including email, internet, data entry, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet goals and deadlines.
Education And Work Experience
- Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
- Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology, or Military experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience in electrical substation testing, construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, assembly, and commissioning is preferred, but not required.
Other Useful Experience
- A mechanical aptitude.
- An attitude ripe for learning.
Other Requirements
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and motor vehicle check.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test, as well as periodic, unannounced random testing.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to obtain an endorsement to operate a combined vehicle weight up to 26k lbs.
- Must be able to lift and maneuver at least 50 lbs.
- Must be willing to obtain a company paid TWIC card, OSHA 10/30 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70E, and CPR training.
