About the Role
The Field Service Technician (NETA 2) at POWERX performs basic electrical inspections, tests, and measurements, focusing on data collection. This role involves setting up and removing test equipment, conducting acceptance and maintenance testing, and ensuring cleanliness. Technicians must be knowledgeable about hazardous electrical energy procedures and work with limited supervision. The position includes co-leading projects, sharing responsibilities with lead technicians, and ensuring project success from start to finish, including final reporting to clients.
Responsibilities
- Perform acceptance and maintenance electrical testing under limited supervision.
- Test for de-energized locked out/tagged out equipment.
- Collect and record test data accurately.
- Assist in setting up and removing test equipment for various testing activities.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness of test equipment and work areas.
- Ensure tools and equipment are kept in good condition.
- Write detailed reports on test results and findings.
- Ensure reports are accurate and submitted in a timely manner.
- Perform basic electrical measurements under the guidance of senior technicians.
- Record and report measurement data accurately.
- Support additional responsibilities and tasks as required to meet organizational goals.
Requirements
- Must have a satisfactory background and MVR check.
- Must pass pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, and/or random drug tests.
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
- Basic understanding of electrical theory.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong interpersonal, social, and customer service skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain attention to detail.
Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED required; Associate’s degree from an accredited 2-year technical college or trade school preferred.
- NETA certification level 2 preferred.
- 2+ years of experience.
- OSHA 30-hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED, Power DB training a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
- Willingness to work occasional overtime as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must wear appropriate PPE, including arc-flash suit, safety glasses, hard hat, respirator, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots.
- Ability to walk, stand, climb, pull, push, sit, and work in cramped or confined spaces.
- Potential low exposure to dirt, heat, fumes, smoke, water, noise, vibration, grease, oil, and dust.
