About the role
Join a wireless communications team supporting the installation, programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mission-critical P25 wireless communication systems. This role provides hands-on technical expertise across P25 radio infrastructure and field systems while delivering exceptional customer service and developing solutions that meet complex customer requirements.
Responsibilities
- Install, service, troubleshoot, and repair P25 and other wireless communications equipment, including UHF/VHF and 800/900 MHz radio systems, dispatch consoles, repeaters, base stations, BDA/DAS systems, and related infrastructure
- Create and modify mid-level radio programming codeplugs, including configurations with 12+ channels, multiple zones, and trunking
- Support Motorola Astro 25 systems and associated infrastructure, including Quantar, GTR8000, MCC5500/7500, and related P25 products
- Diagnose complex RF and communications system issues using spectrum analyzers, system analyzers, watt meters, TDRs/FDRs, multimeters, and other electronic test equipment
- Interpret schematics, blueprints, diagrams, and technical documentation to support system installation, troubleshooting, and repair
- Evaluate customer requirements and recommend appropriate radio equipment, hardware, and communications solutions
- Troubleshoot and support repeaters, multicouplers, duplexers, battery backup systems, TCP/IP-connected communications equipment, and related wireless infrastructure
- Provide professional customer service and technical support during field installations, service calls, and system maintenance
- Travel regionally and/or overnight as required and participate in on-call support
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience diagnosing, repairing, programming, and installing two-way radio and wireless communications equipment; military communications experience may be considered in lieu of traditional industry experience
- Strong hands-on experience with P25 radio systems and Motorola equipment, including Astro 25 platforms and related infrastructure
- Demonstrated ability to create and troubleshoot complex radio codeplugs involving multiple channels, zones, and trunking
- Extensive knowledge of two-way radio theory, RF propagation, communications systems, and wireless infrastructure
- Proficiency troubleshooting RF and electronic systems using industry-standard test equipment and interpreting schematics and technical diagrams
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel regionally and/or overnight and support on-call requirements
- Experience with DAS/BDA systems, TCP/IP principles, and NIC programming is preferred
- Motorola Astro 25, MotoTRBO, R56, CET, or related industry certifications are a plus
- Associate degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent technical education is preferred
Pay
Salary: $60,000–$78,000 depending on experience
