About the role

Responsibilities
- Perform field work in all types of weather and on various surfaces including entry to sanitary sewer and stormwater manholes or other confined spaces.
- Use technical equipment to monitor, record, and calculate the performance of the stormwater, water distribution, and wastewater collection system.
- Handle external customer inquiries.
- Perform surveying functions using GPS or similar systems.
- Use computer programs such as Office 365, ArcMap, Pioneer, Telog, and FloWare to input, retrieve, and manage data.
- Work with field crews to install/repair/inspect the wastewater and stormwater systems.
- Coordinate with department, other departments, and the public in conducting field operations, research projects, and daily operations of the department.
- Perform gravity main CCTV operations, including the use and maintenance of equipment, PACP inspection of pipes, and use of trenchless repair technologies.
- Repair technical equipment.
- Organize and file paperwork, drawings, and research projects.
- Inspect vehicles to ensure maintenance needs are identified and addressed.
- Analyze data gathered in the field to support replacement and routing of utility projects.
- Responsible for on-call after hour emergencies.
- Use good communication skills to convey recommendations using maps, emails, and meetings.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent;
- Four (4) years’ experience in water utilities, public works construction or inspection, or related field;
- Must have NASSCO Pipeline Assessment Certification Program (PACP)/Lateral Assessment Certification Program (LACP)/Manhole Assessment Certification Program (MACP);
- Must have or obtain a valid Wastewater Collections Class II license from TCEQ within two (2) years of employment;
- Must have or obtain a valid Water Class C Distribution license from TCEQ within two (2) years of employment.
Skills
- Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local Government laws, ordinances, and regulations;
- Knowledge of Civil or Environmental Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Water Utilities;
- Skill at the intermediate level, working with applicable Microsoft Office 365 products, and other software systems to complete work;
- Skill in drafting or mapping applications, such as Esri ArcMap or AutoCAD;
- Skill in use of technical equipment;
- Skill in mechanical repair to technical equipment;
- Skill in providing exceptional service to internal and external customers;
- Skill in interpersonal relationships, including using tact, patience, and courtesy;
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in oral and written forms, for the needs of the audience;
- Ability to understand, interpret, and apply rules, policies, and procedures;
- Ability to consistently produce high-quality work under minimal supervision;
- Ability to recognize and respond to problems discovered in the course of work;
- Ability to prioritize tasks and use resources efficiently.
