Field Service Technician I - (Entry Level)

Clean Harbors in Pasadena, TX is seeking an entry-level Field Services Technician to join our safety-focused team. This role involves hazardous waste clean-up, site remediation, equipment decontamination, and handling of hazardous materials. New hires are required to attend a two-week (paid) training Academy, which may be out of state. Travel expenses are covered by the company.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting safely at all times
  • Engage in strenuous physical labor, including lifting and pulling heavy objects
  • Operate light and heavy equipment, hand tools, powered industrial tools, and vibration-producing tools
  • Wear and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, skin, face, hand, and foot protection
  • Work in various temperatures, indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions
  • Work in atmospheres with potential exposure to hazardous, toxic, or corrosive chemical and physical agents
  • Work in elevated noise levels, confined spaces, and at heights (ladders, scaffolding)
  • Assist in field sampling activities and calibration of meters
  • Climb ladders, scaffolding, and enter/exit trucks, tanks, and containers
  • Work extended hours (> 8 hrs.) as needed
  • Attend compliance and safety update meetings
  • Inspect drums for container integrity and regulatory compliance
  • Safely load and unload hazardous and non-hazardous waste
  • Conduct waste stream sampling and profiling
  • Complete associated paperwork (worksheets, vehicle inspections, equipment inspections, permits)
  • Follow all local, state, and federal compliance regulations
  • Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT and other regulatory requirements
  • Observe all corporate operating guidelines and environmental health and safety procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • By position, be on call for emergency response on a rotating basis (every other week)
  • By position, perform site remediation, equipment decontamination, and handle hazardous materials
  • By position, may perform lead responsibilities

Requirements

  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to perform physical functions as described in responsibilities
  • Agree to be on-call for emergency response, including occasional weekends and holidays; response situations may extend beyond 8 hours (up to 12-24 hrs.)
  • Previous relevant labor experience
  • Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical (by position)
  • Per OSHA’s Respiratory Protection standard (29 CFR 1910.34), employees in positions requiring respirators must meet facial hair standards
  • Valid Driver’s license
