About the Role
Crane Payment Innovations (CPI) makes the technology that powers everyday transactions—from self-checkout machines and casino slots to vending machines and parking meters. We enable over 4 billion transactions weekly across 143 currencies worldwide. As a Mechanical Field Service Technician I, you’ll service, repair, and maintain electromechanical equipment (coin/currency devices, ATMs, software, and office products) for clients in the Cincinnati, Lawrenceburg, IN, Lexington, KY, and surrounding areas.
Responsibilities
- Service, upgrade, and perform preventative maintenance on company electromechanical equipment.
- Travel daily to client sites (90% local, 10% overnight as needed), including long drives depending on territory.
- Collaborate with branch sales and service teams to meet client needs.
- Respond to customer service requests within contract-specified response times.
- Cover extended hours and on-call duty where applicable.
- Maintain a balanced vehicle stock parts inventory and ensure vehicle cleanliness and scheduled service.
- Safeguard company-issued assets (tablet, mobile phone, tools).
- Perform all other assigned duties.
Requirements
- 1+ years of experience as a technician, field service professional, or in a mechanical role.
- Ability to gain access to highly secured environments; occupational licenses may be required.
- Strong electromechanical aptitude (preferred but not mandatory).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer-first attitude.
- Personable, approachable, and able to work collaboratively at all levels.
- Strong attention to detail, able to proof and prioritize work independently.
- Proficient in iOS, MS Office, and Windows OS.
- Ability to set and track goals, work proactively, and meet deadlines without constant supervision.
Physical Requirements
- Available for periodic travel to Mt. Prospect, IL, for training.
- Able to lift, push, or carry a minimum of 50 pounds (e.g., money-counting machines).
- Kneeling, bending, twisting, lifting, and squatting up to 60% of the time to service equipment.
- Hand and wrist dexterity for using tools and handling parts.
- Phone or desk work (10% of the time) for computer tasks, bench repairs, and scheduling.
- Ability to stand for long periods (up to 75% of the time).
