About the role
Global Industrial is a leading distributor of industrial equipment and supplies. This position is located in Buford, Georgia.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding customer service
- Visually inspect, test, and listen to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions
- Discuss machine operation variations with customers to diagnose problems and repair machines
- Dismantle machine parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems
- Remove and replace worn or defective parts
- Install new or repaired parts; clean and lubricate machinery
- Realign and adjust components such as spindles and clutches
- Install and repair electronic components of machinery and equipment
- Start machines and equipment to test proper operation following repair
- Organize and plan with the dispatcher to follow up on repairs on equipment when all ordered parts have been received
- Organize with the dispatcher to schedule repairs and Preventive Maintenance (PM) at similar locations on the same day, as time and location permit
- Organize new service requests with the dispatcher in the same working area, as time permits
- Complete timecards accurately and completely throughout the day
- Record and report work orders, parts, supplies ordering, and a daily agenda
- Submit parts orders and all required paperwork through the tech portal/ERP system while at each location
- Organize parts received for van stock and follow up on customer repairs
- Work efficiently with the dispatcher for the most productive route each day
- Treat company equipment as if it were their own and follow PM guidelines on company provided vehicles
- Perform additional duties as a supervisor may deem necessary
- Work safely in different types of environments and always prioritize safety
Competencies and skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Good mechanical aptitude and skills
- Self-starter with entrepreneurial spirit
- Good driving record
- Ability to read, write, and interpret documents
- Excellent time-management skills

- Possesses excellent communication skills; both verbal and written

- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form

- Owns or can purchase or borrow basic standard and metric mechanical tools, gear puller, and three-drawer tool chest
Physical Demands
- Sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel or crouch
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
- Moves up to 400 lbs with hand truck/dolly
- Works on a ladder running overhead piping
- Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Travel up to an average of 300 miles per day
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals

- Income is based on an hourly pay structure, with a ½ hour start of the day and end of the day reduction for commute time
