Field Service Technician
About the role
Throne is a fast-growing Series B startup transforming public infrastructure by delivering clean, safe, smart restrooms to cities, transit agencies, and public spaces. Ahead of our launch in New York City, we are looking for a full-time Field Service Technician to join our team, reporting to the NYC Technical Operations Manager. You will perform a variety of repairs addressing electrical, mechanical, plumbing, or construction-related issues, provide on-the-job support to other technicians, prioritize daily tasks, and assist with training and onboarding new technicians. New hires will travel to Washington, DC for a fully paid two-week training program at the start of employment. This role requires a willingness to work a flexible schedule based on operational needs.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the working condition of Throne Units:
- Troubleshoot, identify, and repair Thrones on-site as issues arise
- Prioritize and assign tasks to yourself and other field service technicians
- Interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings to guide installations, repairs, and upgrades
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including documentation of repairs, replacements, and inspections
- Organize and maintain the warehouse, vehicles, and tools:
- Update and maintain accuracy of our inventory system
- Keep fleet vehicles clean and organized
- Organize and maintain the warehouse environment
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in plumbing, electrical work, construction basics, or remodeling
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and diagrams
- Demonstrated ability to use tools and equipment properly and safely
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues
- Knowledge of testing procedures for electrical components, including voltage, continuity, and current tests
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to work on weekends or outside of regular business hours as needed
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Can-do attitude and passion for Throne's mission
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating a forklift, ideally in outdoor environments
- Certification or license in plumbing, electrical work, or a related field
- Experience working with smart technologies or IoT (Internet of Things) devices
- Prior experience in the portable sanitation industry
Pay
The base hourly rate for this position is $34.80, in addition to $16.14 per hour in fringe benefits. Actual compensation will depend on a candidate's applicable experience and skills.
