Engineering$33.42–$42.55/hrFull-time
Lytx is hiring Field Service Technicians as field-based trial support positions across key U.S. markets. This is a hands-on, on-the-ground role for someone who takes pride in doing installs right the first time. You will be the Lytx-badged professional who shows up to every trial install site, performs the installation, makes sure the hardware is right, and doesn't leave until every vehicle is activated and recording.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and stock your trial hardware kit; manage hardware rotation to keep inventory current
- Source replacement parts locally when needed for standard components to prevent day-of delays
- Conduct pre-site vehicle assessments for complex trials before install day
- Perform hardware installations on standard commercial vehicles — hardwired, diagnostic, and basic AUX Hub configurations
- Perform basic field diagnostics: verify device connectivity, confirm recording, identify and resolve common activation issues using DMM and device diagnostic tools
- Inspect and verify every vehicle before accepting it — no vehicle leaves without confirmed recording
- Communicate install progress and completion to the customer's fleet manager professionally
- Answer basic product questions on-site; escalate deeper product, settings, or feature inquiries to the AE or SE
- Track hardware inventory; flag supply issues to IPM before they become day-of problems
- Escalate expanded deployment scope to CPM, product questions to AE/SE, and advanced technical installs to FSE
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- 2–4 years of hands-on hardware installation experience — vehicle telematics preferred, vehicle audio/visual installations, 12V, alarm/security, HVAC, or similar
- Mechanically competent: understands device mounting, cable routing, and power connections in commercial vehicles
- Basic 12/24v electrical understanding; able to take voltage, current, and continuity measurements with a digital multimeter (DMM)
- Comfortable working in fleet yards, trucking facilities, and industrial locations — including outdoor work in varying weather conditions
- Detail-oriented: install quality and documentation are non-negotiable
- Professional customer-facing presence; represents Lytx credibly with fleet managers and operations staff
- Valid driver's license; willing to travel locally/regionally frequently, nationally periodically, and internationally occasionally. Travel expected 80%+
- Willing to work weekends and overtime as needed; overnight travel required periodically for out-of-market deployments
Preferred Qualifications
- Ideally Lytx, Samsara, Motive, Geotab, or other fleet telematics hardware installation experience
- Familiarity with fleet telematics installation best practices for both light and heavy duty vehicles
- MECP (Mobile Electronics Certification Program), ASE, or OEM manufacturer certification — highly desired
- Experience with Class 7–8 or specialty commercial vehicle configurations
- Basic device activation, firmware, or connectivity verification experience
- Experience coordinating or supervising a small install crew
