Field Service Technician
About the role
The Field Service Technician (FST) is a unique and rewarding position at Joerns Healthcare LLC. As a FST, you will provide equipment deliveries, pickups, and servicing of company-owned equipment in various settings, including private homes and customer facilities. You will also support patients and caregivers through education and care of the equipment.
Responsibilities
- Deliver, set up, and pick up Joerns owned equipment for patients in need.
- Instruct and demonstrate proper and safe use of Joerns owned equipment to patients, caregivers, and nursing staff.
- Drive safely in all aspects of the job, obeying all traffic laws and company procedures.
- Complete vehicle safety checks (pre-trip and post-trip inspections) with set procedures.
- Have a strong understanding of phone technology and complete required paperwork and electronic documentation for all equipment deliveries, pickups, or services.
- Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and rotate on-call availability with other Field Service Technicians, including nights and weekends when required.
- Clean, disinfect, repair, and quality check all products as required in accordance with set-up procedures.
- Complete all required training, including continued educational training.
- Load and unload equipment in an orderly and safe manner in accordance with set policies and procedures.
- Show empathy and compassion for customers/patients in every situation.
- Rotate on-call availability with Field Service Technicians, including nights & weekends.
- Transport deliveries according to manifest in a safe, responsible manner and in accordance with company procedures and applicable DOT regulations.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- 2 years of customer service or comparable experience, such as CNA, medical, delivery driver, retail, hospitality, transport, home care, hospice, med tech, mobility devices, DME, medical equipment, warehouse, janitorial, mechanical, repair technician, etc.
- Ability to read, follow instructions, map/GPS, and perform basic math functions.
- Dedicated to providing first-class customer service with compassionate professional acumen.
- Able to work extended hours, including some evenings, weekends, and travel if required.
- Able to work with minimal supervision and exercise sound judgment in the absence of a manager.
- Able to safely lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs with or without accommodations.
- Previous driving/delivery experience and/or previous durable medical equipment (DME) experience is preferred.
- Computer skills, such as experience with Outlook email, Microsoft Excel, and smartphones like iPhone or Android.
- Good communication skills (verbal and written), along with good organizational skills.
- Previous patient care experience is preferred.
