Field Service Technician

Responsibilities

  • Install/replace battery systems, related accessories, and hardware.
  • Install/replace power electronics equipment/hardware, including wiring and connections.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and testing on battery and battery charging systems in UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supplies), Utility, and Telecommunication settings.
  • Attend and participate in safety training.
  • Adhere to all company and industry safety policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to applicable customer, industry, and manufacturer's maintenance/installation methods and standards.
  • Operate basic tools and test equipment.
  • Operate material handling equipment.
  • Supply and organize trucks with all equipment necessary to perform job functions.
  • Continually train and develop to advance Field Service Technician responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have and be able to maintain a current driver's license and acceptable driving record per HM Cragg insurance carrier standard.
  • Must pass a physical exam, background check and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Required travel to customer sites out of town for overnight and/or extended periods of time.
  • Able to work flexible hours, days, and overtime, as needed.
  • Able to lift items up to 150 lbs. multiple times a day.
  • Able to obtain Class C Commercial Driver's License where required by state law.
  • Maintain compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) random drug and alcohol screening requirements.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Basic electrical knowledge, or willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work with a range of tools, from wrenches to multimeters.
  • Possess troubleshooting skills and be able to effectively operate basic equipment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Efficient in Microsoft Office software.
