About the role

The Field Service Technician position at Precision Roll Solutions performs electro-mechanical work, assists and troubleshoots with engineers, and works as a team to test, install, start-up, and demonstrate customer converting equipment. They also train customers on the operation and maintenance of this equipment. In addition, they may work with the assembly team in the shop to build custom converting equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Install, demonstrate, and instruct customers on the operation of company-produced machinery at their plant.
  • Assist with or install new machines and upgrades as required, and service legacy equipment already in the field.
  • Set up and operate machinery to produce customer's product; provide technical and practical answers to customer's questions or problems.
  • Perform routine and/or emergency breakdown mechanical/electrical service on customer equipment; determine root cause of trouble; prepare report of findings and solutions to problem.
  • Report quality issues and take corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Act as liaison between customer and company; maintain positive relationships with customers.
  • Prepare and submit reports as required.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to less experienced personnel.
  • Promote a safe working environment. Identify and demonstrate use of machine safety and personal protection equipment.
  • Demonstrate compliance with safety procedures, OSHA requirements and guidelines. Ensure that work areas and equipment are maintained in clean and orderly condition and all safety regulations are observed; report and correct any unsafe work practices or conditions immediately.

Requirements

A working knowledge of web handling equipment and tension control, including the ability to calibrate load cells and tune drives. A basic math skills to include but not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and geometry. Technical knowledge of or ability to learn machining and manufacturing procedures and practices. Ability to work in a team environment. Adaptable to changing work environment with competing demands and frequent changes. Ability to stand or walk for an 8-10 hour shift. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Bend, squat, climb, grasp, reach, lift or otherwise move about frequently and for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Ability to travel at least 50% of the time – by air or car. Ability to read drawings and technical specifications with knowledge of geometric tolerances. Ability to read electrical and pneumatics schematics; procedures and other job instructions. Ability to set-up and assemble machine modules using hand tools or material handling devices (e.g. cranes, forklifts). Knowledge in use of measuring instruments and their application.
