SUMMARY

Trips across the U.S. and Canada to repair and install electrical and assembly components in generator enclosures. Communicates with customers via phone, email, and in person for onsite assembly and troubleshooting. Estimates repair costs, records work performed, and travels up to 75-100% of time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communicates with customers on phone, by email, and in person for onsite assembly and troubleshooting.
  • Estimates repair costs.
  • Records repair work performed and the costs of the work.
  • Travels to customer sites to aid in installation and troubleshooting.
  • Assembles functional parts of enclosures and tanks using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straight edges.
  • May operate forklifts, cranes, and other lifting apparatus to assist in assembly.
  • Develops work instructions from general descriptions.
  • Confers with supervisor, engineers, production personnel, or others to resolve assembly problems.
  • Assembles, installs, and/or repairs wiring, electrical, and electronic components, pipe systems, and plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
  • Determines and corrects mechanical and electrical problems by diagnosing with blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts using hand tools and power tools, and reassembles products both in the shop and on site.
  • Cleans and organizes work area.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Journeyman Electrician license preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, write routine reports, and speak before groups.
  • Basic math skills including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  • Solid problem-solving and reasoning abilities.
  • Physical stamina to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 80 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes noisy environment with moving parts.
