FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN
About the role
We are currently offering up to a $5,000 sign-on bonus for Heavy Equipment Field Service Technician new hires. $2,500 is payable after 90 days of employment, and the remaining $2,500 is payable after 180 days of employment. Responsibilities
- Apply expert level troubleshooting techniques and determine proper repair procedures on all assigned work orders.
- Service, diagnose and repair/rebuild all engine/components regardless of model/maker of equipment, including electrical, computers, and monitors at customer’s jobsite.
- Disassemble, inspect and determine parts needed. Reassemble to factory specifications.
- Interact with customers and answer repair-related questions as required. Refer non-repair related questions to supervisor.
- Perform heavy electrical and computer repairs.
- Interpret and utilize information from operating, maintenance and service manuals/bulletins.
- Inspect components removed from machines to determine their reusability.
- Prepare parts requisitions, parts returns, accurate and complete service reports, and other necessary reports and forms.
- Clearly and concisely document all work and repairs completed in a timely manner.
- Maintain work area, tools and equipment to promote a clean and safe environment.
- Perform various other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of four years’ experience repairing heavy construction equipment preferred.
- Experience troubleshooting and diagnosing expert level mechanical repairs.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Thorough knowledge of engines, transmissions, electrical and other related components to troubleshoot and analyze unique and high level problems/issues quickly and improvise using logic and critical thinking skills to make needed repairs.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to repair Caterpillar and competitive components and machines.
- Excellent driving record and the ability to obtain a CDL.
- Ability to become DOT certified with DOT Medical Card.
- Willingness to work any shift and overtime as needed to meet business and customer demands.
- Strong communication with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Self-direction and well organized.
- Proficient use of technical software, databases and manuals.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three years' relevant heavy equipment field experience is required to be eligible for the $5,000 sign-on bonus.
- Candidates with less than 3 years’ heavy equipment field experience are eligible for a $2,000 sign-on bonus.

Pay
Competitive Compensation and Benefits: Actual base pay may vary based on experience, skills, qualifications, education, geographic location, and other relevant business considerations. In addition to base pay, the compensation package may include participation in performance-based incentive programs (e.g., discretionary or non-discretionary plans), as well as overtime eligibility depending on the role.
