Field Service Technician
About the role
As a Field Service Technician with Burwell, you’ll be on the road each day, clocking in from your company-provided service vehicle and heading to customer sites across Chilhowie, Virginia. You’ll service and repair forklifts, pallet jacks, reach trucks, boom lifts, and other warehouse vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair forklifts, pallet jacks, reach trucks, boom lifts, and other warehouse vehicles
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, LP/diesel engine, and electrical system issues
- Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters and hydraulic gauges to pinpoint and fix problems
- Perform preventative maintenance to keep customer equipment running smoothly
- Service multiple brands including Hyundai, Bobcat, Clark, Genie, JLG, and Skyjack
- Participate in manufacturer-certified training to stay up to date on equipment and repair techniques
- Promote service offerings like maintenance programs, inspections, and parts
- Inspect and maintain your service vehicle, tools, and inventory for safety and readiness
- Support and mentor junior techs when needed
Requirements
- Prior experience in forklift, heavy equipment, diesel, or automotive repair
- Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems
- Familiarity with diagnostic software and tools
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. occasionally and meet the physical demands of the job
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Willingness to travel within the assigned service territory
Qualifications
We’re looking for candidates who have prior experience in forklift, heavy equipment, diesel, or automotive repair. A strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems is essential. Familiarity with diagnostic software and tools is also important. The ability to lift up to 75 lbs. occasionally and meet the physical demands of the job is required. A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is necessary.
