Field Service Technician

About the role

We seek an experienced forklift technician with 3+ years’ experience in a shop or field setting. Automotive technicians with dealership experience are also encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, and articulated boom equipment used in construction.
  • Work completed in-house (shop).
  • Overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
  • Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.
  • Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers’ specifications.
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Troubleshooting: determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it; repairing machines or systems using needed tools.
  • Equipment Maintenance: performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Equipment Selection: determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do the job.
  • Installation: installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
  • Operating Monitoring: watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Problem Sensitivity: the ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong (recognizing the problem without solving it).
  • Information Ordering: arranging things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules.
  • Manual Dexterity: quickly moving hands or arms to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
  • Near Vision: seeing details at close range (within a few feet).
  • Multi-limb Coordination: coordinating two or more limbs while sitting, standing, or lying down.
  • Control Precision: quickly and repeatedly adjusting the controls of a machine or vehicle to exact positions.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to wear protective equipment such as goggles, face shield, gloves, and work apron.
  • Frequently involves heavy lifting, pulling (up to 100 pounds), working in awkward positions, or lying on back working beneath equipment.
  • Uses trade-type tools or hand tools.

Additional requirements

  • Must have own tools.
  • People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience with forklifts is recommended.
  • Driver’s license required; clean DMV record (will be checked).

Schedule

  • Full-time, 8-hour shift
  • Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week
