Field Service Responsibilities
- Assembly, installation, commissioning, and testing of industrial control systems.
- Accurately and independently perform repairs, panel modifications, commissioning, and other tasks on-site at customer facilities.
- Programs and repairs variable frequency drives (VFDs).
- Performs preventative maintenance, troubleshoots, and repairs various other electronic equipment on customer sites. Observes equipment in operation to determine root cause of failure.
- Repairs and/or replaces defective parts on-site to reduce downtime of customer equipment.
- Performs routine processes with and within industrial control systems to troubleshoot and analyze complex equipment, perform equipment maintenance, and resolve equipment failures.
- Complies with customer contractor codes of conduct, housekeeping standards, and safety procedures.
- Documents field service work completed in company systems.
- Communicates with multiple departments regarding the status of field service jobs, including Purchasing, Engineering, Sales, Customer Service, and Logistics.
- Maintains a neat, orderly and clean field service vehicle.
- Cross trains in other areas.
Repair Responsibilities
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment failure to determine component level needs for repair and/or replacement.
- Uses diagnostic tools and equipment, such as oscilloscopes, multimeters and other specialized equipment.
- Follows engineering instructions, technical manuals, customer specifications and/or other documented work instructions, including schematics or drawings.
- Updates progress notes in the designated system to document the steps taken to repair the unit.
- Starts up and shuts down unit in compliance with company and OSHA safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown.
- Maintains company and/or customer required performance documentation and maintenance records for specified unit/customer.
- Communicates with multiple departments regarding the status of repairs, including Purchasing, Engineering, Sales, Customer Service, Logistics, and IT.
- Maintains a neat, orderly and clean workstation.
- Cross trains in other areas.
Qualifications
- Requires a two-year degree in electronics or related technical discipline or equivalent related work experience or combination of training, education and experience.
- Previous experience with test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, Huntron, Pinpoint, IC programmers or test fixtures.
- Previous experience in a field service-related role preferred.
- UL 508A training preferred.
