Position Summary

FIVES LANDIS CORP is actively seeking a Field Service Technician to join its team in Hagerstown, Maryland. The division specializes in designing and supplying various types of machines for markets such as Automotive, Aerospace, Defense, Rail, Shipbuilding, Energy, Space, etc. The position requires a minimum of a High School diploma or GED, 2 years of field service experience, and knowledge of precision cylindrical grinding. Centerless and double disc grinding knowledge, as well as experience with CNC machines and programmable logic controls, is preferred.

About the Role

The Field Service Technician will set up, integrate, and thoroughly test equipment and systems at client locations to ensure optimal functionality and reliability. They will demonstrate equipment performance and capabilities to customers, provide rapid support for critical equipment failures, perform emergency repairs, educate and assist clients on proper equipment operation, communicate with customers and internal teams, and submit detailed service reports.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, integrate, and thoroughly test equipment and systems at client locations to ensure optimal functionality and reliability.
  • Demonstrate equipment performance and capabilities to customers, confirming proper operation and satisfaction with system standards.
  • Provide rapid support for critical equipment failures to minimize downtime.
  • Perform emergency repairs by diagnosing technical issues and implementing effective and timely solutions.
  • Educate and assist clients on proper equipment operation, maximizing efficiency and user confidence.
  • Communicate clearly and proactively with customers and internal teams to provide timely service updates and maintain alignment.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison, managing customer interactions and ensuring prompt and accurate resolution of issues.
  • Submit detailed service reports, including parts used, time spent, and corrective actions taken.

Requirements

The ideal candidate must be legally eligible to work in the United States and pass a background check and drug screen.

Qualifications

  • Minimum High School diploma or GED.
  • 2 years of field service experience.
  • Knowledge of precision cylindrical grinding.
  • Centerless and double disc grinding knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience with CNC machines and programmable logic controls such as Allen Bradley, Fanuc, Siemens, etc.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $28 – $38 per hour, with the rate offered being commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Flexibility in location is encouraged, with candidates from OH welcome to apply. No specific schedule is provided, but the position involves traveling 75% of the time to engage with customers.
