About the Role

Our client is seeking a customer-focused Field Service Technician to support customers throughout the Upper Midwest region. Candidates should ideally be based in the Greater Indianapolis area. This is an outstanding opportunity for a hands-on professional who enjoys troubleshooting complex equipment, working directly with customers, and traveling to support installation, maintenance, and repair needs. The ideal candidate will combine strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills with exceptional customer service abilities.

Location: Remote (must reside in the Greater Indianapolis area)

Responsibilities

  • Install, demonstrate, maintain, and repair industrial marking, coding, and labeling equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electro-mechanical equipment issues at customer sites.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and corrective repairs to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Provide technical support and exceptional customer service during onsite visits.
  • Train customer personnel on equipment operation, maintenance, and best practices.
  • Complete service reports and documentation in accordance with company requirements.
  • Attend technical training sessions, meetings, and professional development programs.
  • Assist with office-based responsibilities when not traveling to customer locations.
  • Stay current on market trends, technology advancements, and industry developments.
  • Identify customer needs and communicate potential equipment, service, or support opportunities when appropriate.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience troubleshooting and repairing electro-mechanical machinery.
  • Previous experience in a field service environment with frequent travel requirements.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
  • Experience training customers or end users on equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a field-based environment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel approximately 60% throughout the assigned territory.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with packaging, labeling, coding, or marking equipment.
  • Experience with flexible packaging machinery.
  • Prior OEM field service experience.
  • Knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with PLC/PC-based control systems.
  • Experience with Syteline ERP.
  • PMMI certification or willingness to obtain certification (company-sponsored training available).
  • Additional technical certifications.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field.

Travel Requirements

  • Approximately 60% travel throughout the Upper Midwest region.
  • Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of an airport.
  • Travel is typically Monday through Friday, with occasional extended travel based on customer needs.
  • All approved travel expenses, including airfare, rental vehicles, and business-related expenses, are covered.
  • Company-issued cell phone provided.
  • Travel time is compensated, including flight delays and travel-related downtime.

Pay

Determining compensation for this role depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location, and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. The salary range for this role is provided as required by local law. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
