About the Role

A Field Technician is responsible for assisting in start-up commissioning, integration, emergency service, and troubleshooting of Vertiv 480VAC electrical bus duct systems including iMPB, HPB, TOB, and metering communications, as well as mechanical repairs and modifications. The role requires maintaining excellent rapport with customers, co-workers, sales representatives, and others while ensuring continuous communication with the CRC, Supervisor, and direct manager.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in start-up commissioning, integration, emergency service, and troubleshooting of Vertiv 480VAC iMPB, HPB, TOB, and communications systems.
  • Establish, promote, and maintain excellent rapport with all customers, co-workers, sales representatives, and others.
  • Evaluate the operating conditions of equipment.
  • Interact comfortably with all levels of internal and external customers.
  • Manage your own schedule with self-motivation.
  • Respond to emergency calls at the customer’s request.
  • Strive to provide all customers a "first time fix" for their equipment.
  • Provide accurate and timely communication to internal and external customers.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, guidelines, and laws.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting of timecards, expense reports, and other documentation.
  • Drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • ASMET or 1+ years of hands-on experience in an electrical environment.
  • Basic training in electrical theory and technologies.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical/electronic test equipment and fundamentals.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Standard computer skills including MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Specific vision abilities: close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to foster a customer-first mindset.

Physical & Environmental Demands

  • Medium lifting (30 lbs. – 45 lbs.).
  • Heavy lifting (over 50 lbs.).
  • Frequent standing, kneeling, crawling, stooping, bending, and twisting.
  • Frequent climbing (stairs, ladders).
  • Frequent driving (car, van, truck).
  • Exposure to extreme cold (below 32°F) and extreme heat (above 100°F).
  • Noise level: medium/high (need to shout to be heard).
  • Working around moving machinery (forklifts, tractors).
  • Protective equipment required (earplugs, gloves, eyewear, respirator, mask, etc.).
  • Work outdoors with no effective protection from weather.

Additional Information

Travel required: 80%. Due to the safety-sensitive aspect of the role, candidates must successfully pass a drug test prior to employment and complete a pre-employment background check. The successful candidate will embrace Vertiv’s Core Principles and Behaviors to help execute strategic priorities.
