Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical and electrical preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting with ability to independently repair units.
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of power generation equipment (alternator assemblies, engines, automatic transfer switches, switchgear, load banks, and control systems).
- Diagnose problems/troubleshoot, replace or repair parts, test, and make adjustments.
- Reads/interprets equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, and work orders to perform maintenance and service.
- Use a variety of hand/power tools and electrical test equipment in performing duties to detect faulty parts and submit repair quotes electronically.
- Operate a company service vehicle and perform routine inspections on assigned equipment/vehicles.
- Complete reports, accept assignments, communicate internally and externally via computer-based systems.
- Manage physical inventory of parts and fluids, as well as computerized inventory system.
- Travel and transport of tools, supplies, and equipment by vehicle and independently to customer sites, including but not limited to: remote wooded locations, elevated locations with only stair access or elevator accessibility, rooftops, farms, waste water treatment plants, and residential sites – both urban and rural.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Assist Operations Manager with direct supervision of technicians as it relates to daily operation and overall performance.
- Set the example for others to follow as it relates to safety, technical skills, training, communications, company policy, and professional appearance and attitude.
- Aid in training and development plans for Field Service Technicians, including but not limited to evaluating skills and mentoring technicians.
- Aid in coaching, rewarding, and evaluating Field Service Technicians, including providing input and communicating performance evaluations, recommending merit increases, and issuing discipline.
- Ensure adequate field coverage by coordinating backfills for any gap in emergency response or on-call coverage.
- Aid in dispatch planning to insure most economical use of time and equipment.
