About the role

As a Field Service Specialist in the Southeast region, you’ll be at the forefront of our operations, ensuring seamless startup, commissioning, and maintenance of Armstrong’s innovative products. You’ll work within a global team of over 1400 colleagues, contributing to a legacy of excellence across eight manufacturing facilities on four continents. This role offers the opportunity to push boundaries, tackle exciting challenges, and develop cutting-edge solutions that promote energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

Responsibilities

  • Field Service Activities:
    • Lead the startup and commissioning of Armstrong equipment, including Variable Frequency Drives and Control Panels.
    • Diagnose and repair issues with our diverse range of equipment, from pumps to automated valves.
    • Document your work through our online portal, provide on-site training to operators, and share field service insights with our After Sales team.
    • Build strong relationships with clients, demonstrating the value of Armstrong’s products and identifying opportunities for additional sales.
    • Travel within the Southeast region up to 60% of the time, with occasional trips to other parts of the USA.
  • Customer Service Activities:
    • Handle service requests, complaints, and startup inquiries via calls and emails.
    • Schedule and manage service visits effectively.
    • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support for urgent service issues.
  • Training Responsibilities:
    • Conduct training sessions for service and installation teams, as well as mechanical contractors, to enhance their knowledge of Armstrong products.
    • Compile and review field reports to ensure equipment performance and warranty adherence.
    • Assist with connecting site equipment to the Internet or customer networks.
  • Technical Support Collaboration:
    • Work closely with engineering, project management, and sales teams to support product development and project-specific initiatives.
    • Identify and report on product issues and contribute to process and design improvements.

Requirements

  • Education: Degree or designation in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Applied Engineering, or a related field, with equivalent practical experience.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with Drives, control panels, BAS systems, and automation. Familiarity with serial communications is a plus.
  • Hands-On Experience: Proven experience with mechanical pumps and HVAC systems.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and strong software skills.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in commercial construction is desirable, along with a solid understanding of electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of hydronic HVAC systems, Variable Frequency Drives, automation, and Building Automation Controls is preferred.
