About the Role

As a Field Service Manager, you will oversee day-to-day operations in the Field Service Department within your assigned area. This role involves managing a team of technicians and installers with varying levels of expertise, and requires extensive interaction with customers, product vendors, manufacturers, and senior management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects and service assignments as needed.
  • Act as a direct liaison between BearCom technicians and Motorola or end customers.
  • Work with customers to prepare quotes, bids, and schedules for installation and repair tasks.
  • Assist with organizing and scheduling upcoming field work.
  • Provide technical support in field operations.
  • Check the functioning of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions.
  • Install, maintain, and provide technical support for wireless communications equipment, including UHF/VHF and 800/900 MHz analog and digital systems.
  • Operate mobile, portable radio equipment, dispatch consoles, and microwave systems using both conventional and trunked radio technologies.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and resolve wireless communication equipment problems efficiently.
  • Provide hands-on oversight for the installation of communications equipment and peripheral hardware, such as base stations, repeaters, mobile/portable devices, wireless broadband devices, and CCTV equipment.
  • Analyze diagnostic test results to repair and program radios and wireless equipment.
  • Deliver and execute customer Functional Acceptance Test Plans (FATP), perform and document site surveys and assessments per defined customer requirements.
  • Make minor modifications to electronic circuitry per customer requests and/or deploy factory software/firmware updates.
  • Train and coach field service technicians and installers.
  • Travel and on-call availability may be required.
  • Assist with other projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in technical management in the wireless industry or similar experience.
  • Experience in developing, qualifying, and directing new business opportunities through customer interface and requirements gathering.
  • Knowledge of and experience with a network of vendor resources.
  • Experience managing complex project implementations.
  • Understanding of business practices and P&L responsibility.
  • Excellent customer relationship skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of 2-way radio theory, RF propagation characteristics at various frequency bands, and communications systems.
  • Technical leadership experience associated with wireless solutions and multiple 2-way radio technologies.
  • Appropriate degree from an accredited college or equivalent experience; a combination of education, professional experience, and specialized training is acceptable.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Security clearance is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Background checks, including a Motor Vehicle check, are part of the hiring process.
