About the Role

The Field Service Foreman is responsible for hands-on repair in the field, managing parts carts, supporting field technicians, training new field technicians, providing technical guidance, diagnosing machines at branches that cannot be resolved by shop technicians, and other field-related activities. This position ensures both internal and external customer satisfaction and models company practices daily.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, evaluate, and influence effective and consistent productivity and teamwork to ensure the delivery of Legendary Customer Service (LCS).
  • Model, promote, reinforce, and reward the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, processes, and alignment with the company’s Vision, Values, and Mission.
  • Ensure parts carts are accurate and finalize orders.
  • Mentor, develop, and support field technicians within their assigned group.
  • Perform repairs and troubleshooting offsite with minimal supervision.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and failures.
  • Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble basic components.
  • Test, make adjustments, and verify proper operation of all repairs.
  • Provide accurate input into key field service activities for effective decision-making and resource availability.
  • Work safely at all times and adhere to all applicable safety policies; comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Perform supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work; coaching, appraising performance, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
  • Support hiring efforts, onboarding, coaching, and address employee and customer concerns with guidance from leadership.
  • Assist in parts ordering by managing parts carts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; trade school diploma preferred.
  • Three years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience required; four or more years preferred.
  • Aerial lift certification required.
  • Forklift certification required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Skills

  • Advanced mechanical background with various engines and electrical systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction equipment, aerial, and lifting equipment.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Experience with MSHA, OSHA, and DOT regulations; certification preferred.
  • Quality control analysis skills for testing and inspecting products, services, or processes.
  • Operation and control skills for managing equipment or systems.
  • Advanced mechanical skills and understanding of schematics and diagrams.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and solid organizational skills.
  • Recordkeeping and document control for compliance with company policies.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret written information.
  • Ability to listen and understand information presented verbally.

Travel

Less than 10% travel per year with occasional overnight stays, primarily for training purposes.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
  • Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Constant movement and use of limbs; requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
  • Ability to ascend/descend with gradual or continuous progress using both hands and feet, and climb ladders.
  • Ability to safely maneuver and work underneath equipment.
  • Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and visually inspects work.

Work Environment

  • Regularly works outside around moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to weather extremes (inclement weather, heat, cold, humidity).
  • Noise level may be loud at times.
  • Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment.
  • Significant time spent in confined spaces and high places.
