Field Service Expert, RGP

About the role
Voith Paper is hiring for an entry-level technical position in North America through our Regional Graduate Program (RGP). This 18-month rotational training program exposes members to all aspects of our service business, culminating in a position that best fits both Voith and the individual. Candidates should have a 4-year degree or be completing one soon, with engineering, supply chain, or science degrees typical but not required. Exposure to the paper industry or other industrial settings is beneficial but not mandatory.
Responsibilities
- Rotate within Service departments at Voith Paper Appleton office, including Process Service, Mechanical Service, and Automation/Controls Service.
- Get acquainted with departments supporting continuous improvement initiatives and customer support.
- Understand, predict, and enhance plant operations and business practices using analytical and quantitative methods.
- Support scheduling, planning, and service operations by assembling data, analyzing performance, identifying problems, and developing recommendations.
- Work directly with service specialists to learn:
- Manufacturing processes and process optimization
- The paper-making process and how Voith products fit
- Troubleshooting products in operation on paper machines
- Improving manufacturing and business processes
- Completing customer service orders and commissioning new equipment
- Evaluating current field service contracts and programs
- Reviewing planning and scheduling of field service technicians
- Collaborate with global counterparts in Europe and Asia.
- Build communication channels with mentors and other Voith personnel across North America.
Requirements
- A 4-year bachelor's degree in engineering, mechanical trades, automation, or a related discipline (business or other backgrounds will be considered).
- Mobility during the 18-month training period, including travel to manufacturing plants or customer sites.
- Comfort working in an industrial environment with machinery, including lifting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and balancing.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and computer skills (MS Office, basic SAP knowledge is a plus).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with frequent customer and internal interactions.
