About the Role
The Field Service Engineer II installs, calibrates, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs complex Spector Ion Beam Deposition (IBD) systems at customer sites. They serve as the technical lead, ensuring systems meet performance specifications and customer requirements, and build trusted relationships with clients.
Responsibilities
- Install, upgrade, and qualify ion beam systems, ensuring readiness for production.
- Diagnose and resolve failures across mechanical, electrical, vacuum, and software subsystems using structured troubleshooting.
- Perform preventive maintenance, document system conditions, and manage field activities.
- Communicate technical status clearly to customers and internal teams.
- Provide technical guidance to customer technicians and less experienced engineers.
- Maintain thorough documentation of service events and findings.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in field service or equipment support of complex electromechanical or vacuum systems.
- Expertise in vacuum systems, electromechanical troubleshooting, and system integration.
- Knowledge of semiconductor safety and cleanroom protocols.
- Strong communication, prioritization, and documentation skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in confined spaces, and use diagnostic tools safely.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions.

Pay
Salary range is $29–$37/hr plus bonus.
