Field Service Engineer, Controls

About the role
As a field service engineer, you will travel throughout your assigned service area with a company vehicle to build customer relations and apply your technical expertise to on-site projects. You will oversee field service deliverables, establish operational quality, and assure customer satisfaction. You will provide customer support by performing on-site installation services and overseeing diagnoses, troubleshooting, service, and repair of complex equipment and systems. You will check and approve operational quality of system equipment, instruct customers in operation and maintenance, and serve as company liaison on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects. You can expect day and overnight trips. You will report to the Territory Services Manager and work primarily remotely, with 50% commutable travel to customers within the Pittsburgh region.
Responsibilities
- Perform project management for customer projects, including needs identification, scheduling, tracking, and reporting.
- Support installation, startup, maintenance, and operation of automation control systems, advanced manufacturing software applications, drive systems, manufacturing systems, industrial networks, and related products.
- Evaluate and approve operational quality of system equipment and serve as company liaison to the customer on multiple topics.
- Participate in establishing, measuring, and achieving customer satisfaction metrics.
- Develop and write documentation such as validation project plans, standard operating procedures, qualification summary reports, system audits, technical reports, and traceability matrices.
- Communicate with Rockwell Automation and customer management regarding project details.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship provided for this role).
- Ability to travel 50% of the time.
- Valid driver’s license.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Automation, Engineering, or a Technology-related field.
- Minimum 2+ years of related experience.
- Experience in industrial automation in Pharmaceutical, Food & Beverage, Metals, Water/Wastewater, or other industries.
- PLC programming experience using RSLogix 5, 500, 5000, and FactoryTalk Studio software.
- Experience with Studio5000, ControlLogix, CompactLogix, PowerFlex products and applications, Ethernet/IP, Stratix Switches, Servo/Motion control, Low Voltage PowerFlex Drives, Medium Voltage Drives, and multiple networks including EtherNet, ControlNet, and DeviceNet.
