Field Service Engineer

Responsibilities

• Perform field service of existing TOPTICA laser systems at customer sites.
• Install new laser systems at customer locations, with regular travel.
• Service and repair laser systems in‑house when needed.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for both internal and external customers.
• Travel periodically to TOPTICA’s headquarters in Munich for training and product orientation.

Requirements

• Significant hands‑on experience with continuous‑wave (cw) and/or ultrafast lasers and optical systems.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to adapt to unexpected challenges while maintaining effectiveness and a collaborative attitude.
• Comfortable working in high‑pressure situations.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an outgoing personality and a desire to interact with people.
• Physical ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Unrestricted right to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience installing and aligning optical systems.
• Understanding of optical principles and design.
• Knowledge of laser operating principles.
• Familiarity with terms such as beam walk, lasing threshold, PID loop, laser locking, and phase matching.

Pay

Salary range: $65,000 – $85,000
