Field Service Engineer

About the role

The Field Service Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting, electrical testing, commissioning, and maintaining electrical power systems and related equipment. This role involves working independently or collaboratively across a variety of facilities, including data centers, commercial buildings, government facilities, and industrial sites. Based in Seattle, Washington, with travel throughout the United States as required and potential opportunities for international assignments.

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance and maintenance testing on electrical power distribution equipment, including low-, medium-, and high-voltage circuit breakers; cables; switchboards; switchgear; switches; metering and control systems; protective relays; uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems; battery systems; and other related electrical equipment.
• Perform start-up services on switchgear and electrical systems up through the 500-kV class.
• Troubleshoot systems and components up to 500-kV.
• Read and interpret complex power system studies including short circuit, arc flash, protective device coordination, reliability, harmonics, and load flow analysis.
• Complete test data recording accurately and reliably.
• Maintain strong client relationships.

Requirements

• 5+ years of electrical testing experience is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and three-line drawings.
• Work safely in low, medium, and high-voltage applications.
• Experience using various test equipment such as megger, hi-pot, WRM, TTR, power factor test set, high-current breaker test sets, etc.
• Proficient in Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) and Job Hazard Analysis practices.
• Record and interpret test data (components, power quality, engineering studies, etc.).
• Knowledge of industrial safety processes.
