About the role

The Field Service Engineer (FSE) is primarily responsible for technical support, repairing and servicing Mizuho products in the field throughout the United States. The Field Service Engineer provides highly visible customer support through independent on-site service and repair of complex equipment and systems, including installation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance. Responsibilities include inspecting and ensuring the operational quality and safety of Mizuho OSI products, instructing customers on system operation and maintenance, and serving as the company liaison for administrative and technical matters.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, service, and repair all Mizuho OSI products at customer sites within an assigned territory.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance as required.
  • Support and promote company programs, contract sales, and initiatives.
  • Create and deliver accurate quotes based on company guidelines and procedures.
  • Complete all required service documentation for regulatory compliance through company-established systems.
  • Operate systems to demonstrate equipment and analyze malfunctions.
  • Consult with R&D and/or Manufacturing Engineering to resolve unusual problems.
  • Maintain and update the CRM system as needed, including timely completion of expense reports, training documentation, and other relevant paperwork.
  • Interact across teams (Customer Service Operations, Technical Service, Account Managers, and management) to meet account performance objectives and customer expectations.
  • Advise management on customer satisfaction, product performance, and suggestions for improvements.
  • Maintain and control inventory for repair purposes, including replenishing trunk stock and tracking parts used.
  • Train and instruct customers or team members on proper product use through one-on-one or platform training.
  • Analyze problems, formulate plans, and make sound decisions to ensure high-quality work is completed efficiently.
  • Understand and align with Mizuho OSI’s business objectives, Corporate Vision, Mission, and Values Statements.
  • Follow and support Mizuho OSI’s internal Quality System policies, procedures, and work instructions, including compliance with external regulations (e.g., 21 CFR Part 820 Quality System Regulations and applicable International Standards).

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience and a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other technical references.
  • Proficiency using service reporting and CRM systems, as well as basic email, word processing, and troubleshooting software.
  • Valid driver’s license and qualification for the company’s auto insurance policy.
  • Ability to travel extensively (about 50%) and cover travel expenses per company policy.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 150 lbs.
  • Must live in the designated territory of responsibility; may be required to travel outside the territory when requested.
  • Ability to work nights or weekends as needed.
  • Must complete required training and successfully certify on all product training.
  • Neat, professional appearance and outgoing, people-oriented personality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (additional languages preferred).
  • Strong customer focus, interpersonal skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic, create reports, and demonstrate strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated use of time management processes to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently, establish and accomplish goals, and function as a productive team member.

Working conditions

  • Routine and frequent travel, including driving and sitting for long periods; occasional air travel.
  • Walking or standing within hospitals and operating rooms; bending, kneeling, and stretching may be required.
  • Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling to set up or service equipment.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; frequently push or move up to 150 pounds to uncrate and relocate tables.
  • Specific vision requirements: close and far vision, color vision.
  • Work performed in hospital operating rooms, adhering to gowning and sterility protocols.
  • Low to moderate noise levels in the work environment.

Pay

$85,000–$95,000 annually, plus quarterly bonuses, a comprehensive benefits package, and a company vehicle.
