About the role

We have an opportunity for a highly motivated person whose work will reflect Instron’s commitment to customer satisfaction. Working from home in the Greater Chicago, IL to Milwaukee, Wisconsin area, you will travel to customer sites to perform verification, preventative maintenance, repair, and installation on a wide range of Instron’s products. You will be provided with a company vehicle, appropriate tools/equipment (including a laptop computer, cell phone, and Mi-Fi device), and the support of a well-established service operation. This role has regional responsibility for customers located within Wisconsin and Illinois. Occasional travel to other U.S. locations may be required, up to about 40% overnight travel.

Responsibilities

  • Perform verification, preventative maintenance, repair, and installation of Instron’s mechanical testing systems at customer sites.
  • Interpret technical information involving mechanics and electronics associated with materials testing systems.
  • Read and comprehend blueprints and schematics.
  • Work with electrical, mechanical, and electronic systems.
  • Use PCs, including operating systems and Windows applications.
  • Operate with a high level of autonomy while managing time and customer service effectively.

Requirements

  • Two or four-year technical degree from an accredited university (or equivalent military/trade school training).
  • Knowledge of electro-mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret basic technical information.
  • Familiarity with PCs, including operating systems and Windows applications.
  • Superior organizational, time management, and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior field service experience.
  • Experience with automation systems.
  • Experience performing preventative or corrective maintenance on servo hydraulic systems.
  • Experience with materials testing (preferred but not required).
  • Experience delivering hands-on and classroom training on technical topics.

Pay

This position has a starting salary range of $35 to $38 per hour, determined by experience, relevant skills, and qualifications.
