We are seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to support the installation, qualification, maintenance, calibration, and repair of advanced scientific instrumentation at customer sites. This individual will serve as a technical subject matter expert, ensuring equipment operates in compliance with customer, regulatory, and quality requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform instrument installations, commissioning, repairs, preventative maintenance, calibrations, and system upgrades at customer facilities.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, software, and operational issues on scientific instrumentation.
- Provide technical support via phone, email, remote diagnostics, and on-site customer visits.
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries and service requests while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Train customers on instrument operation, maintenance procedures, and best practices.
- Execute and document equipment qualification activities, including Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ).
- Develop, review, and complete qualification protocols and validation documentation in accordance with quality and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with customers to support site readiness, commissioning, qualification, and validation initiatives.
- Ensure all validation activities are completed accurately and in compliance with applicable standards and procedures.
- Maintain accurate service records, maintenance logs, calibration reports, validation documents, and customer communications.
- Support implementation and adherence to company Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
- Identify, document, and escalate quality-related issues in accordance with established procedures.
- Ensure all service activities are performed following GMP, GLP, safety, and regulatory standards where applicable.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Quality, Sales, Customer Success, Applications, and Product Development teams to resolve technical issues and improve customer experience.
- Provide customer feedback and field observations to support product improvements and continuous process enhancements.
- Assist with technical evaluations, product upgrades, and field-based testing activities as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Bioengineering, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of scientific instrument support experience including installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting.
- 5+ years of equipment qualification and validation experience within regulated environments.
- Hands-on experience performing IQ/OQ/PQ validation activities.
- Experience troubleshooting complex instrumentation involving mechanical, electrical, and software components.
- Strong technical documentation and report-writing skills.
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
- Ability to travel frequently to customer sites.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $90,000 - $120,000/yr. Individual compensation offered within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
