About the role
The Field Sales Representative is needed to sell company products and services to assigned customers in the Houston and surrounding markets. TTI, Inc., headquartered in Fort Worth, TX, is a global distributor of passive, connector, electromechanical, and discrete components.
Responsibilities
- Create sales by generating leads and calling on assigned customer accounts, delivering samples, product line cards and sales literature.
- Defend sales by ensuring all aspects of transactions are handled professionally, ethically, and timely.
- Penetrate sales by pursuing new business leads and securing new business.
- Facilitate follow-through on the sales cycle by keeping touch with the customer, inside sales, manufacturers, sample requests, quotes, and ensuring everything meets customer expectations.
- Attend quarterly business reviews (QBR) with suppliers and regular meetings with internal management to understand the business outlook and opportunities.
- Increase customer account coverage by working closely with Account Representatives to ensure the customer receives the highest level of customer service and support.
- Negotiate special pricing from suppliers by exposing business opportunities during the quote process.
- Resolve customer questions, problems, and complaints by responding promptly and providing the highest level of service.
- Maintain market awareness on competitor activities, industry trends, and new concepts by reading industry periodicals, attending training events, and trade shows.
- Report daily itinerary to branch management by submitting details on appointments such as who is being visited, what is the topic of the visit, when and where the appointment is to take place.
- Participate in the TTI Total Quality Program by supporting the importance of quality, ensuring defined processes are followed, proofing orders and company documents for errors, and identifying areas of process improvement.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree and two years of field sales experience, preferably in component sales and/or engineering, with a background that includes progression from inside sales; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of sales, purchasing, product, vendors, warehousing, branch operations and systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including excellent presentation skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
- Organized and able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Able to present complex topics effectively to senior management, public groups, and boards of directors.
- Strong analytical skills (able to calculate discounts, interests, commissions, proportions, and percentages).
- Able to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
- Able to work with minimum supervision and make responsible, independent decisions.
- Valid Driver’s License, safe driving record, and insurable by the Company’s liability carrier.
- Able to carry up to 10 lbs. without assistance.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) at a basic level required.
