About the role

This is an intermediate-level safety management position with a developmental focus toward promotion to Safety Specialist III. You will report to the Site Safety Manager and work closely with the Construction Manager, Superintendents, Field Staff, Owners, and Subcontractors.

Responsibilities

  • Act as an advocate for CoVolt Power by promoting company Core Principles and mission, a proactive safety culture, and policies and procedures.
  • Represent CoVolt Power professionally with clients, subcontractors, local officials, and others.
  • Support the Site Safety Manager in managing renewable energy project injury and illness prevention plans for construction activities, including roads, foundations, high-voltage electrical works, substations, and generation components.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and the project injury and illness prevention plan in collaboration with project staff.
  • Perform audit, inspection, and surveillance activities in accordance with the project injury and illness prevention plan.
  • Assess the safety of work performed, track and ensure corrective actions are completed per project safety plans and policies.
  • Complete incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining the project injury and illness prevention plan, including emergency action, response, evacuation, and security plans.
  • Verify that all project personnel have the requisite safety training pertinent to their scope of work.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in construction safety management or related field and/or three years of construction safety management experience.
  • Safety auditing experience and knowledge of OSHA standards.
  • Knowledge of technical and safety management aspects of construction project activities.
  • Understanding of public and construction safety and security issues and regulations.
  • Ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements (e.g., Federal and State OSHA, EPA).
  • Strong leadership and influence skills.
  • Effective time management and ability to work independently under limited supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with all levels of staff, owners, and clients.
  • Ability to conduct incident investigations and develop reports with minimal supervision.
  • Self-motivated, quick learner, and computer literate with basic MS Office knowledge.

Skills

  • OSHA 510/500 certification.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
  • BCSP or other equivalent safety certifications.
  • NFPA 70E certification.

Physical Demands

  • Mobility on and around construction sites.
  • Working at height.
  • Occasionally lifting or moving up to 25 pounds.
  • Exposure to hot/cold/high-noise environments.
