About the role
We're seeking a highly motivated and skilled Field Repair Technician to join our growing team as our mobile problem-solver. You'll travel to client sites in Wisconsin and Northern Illinois to diagnose and repair a wide range of items, from furniture and antiques to fixtures and equipment.
- Diagnose and repair: Assess damage and determine the best course of action for repairs.
- Hands-on repairs: Perform structural repairs, cosmetic touch-ups, mechanical adjustments, and component replacements using your diverse skillset.
- Problem-solving: Think on your feet and find creative solutions to unexpected challenges.
- Customer interaction: Provide excellent customer service, explaining repair processes and ensuring client satisfaction.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of repairs performed, parts used, and time spent on each job.
- Travel: This is a field-based position requiring travel to various client locations in the region.
Requirements

- Mechanical aptitude: Solid understanding of how things work.
- Versatile skillset: Experience in various repair disciplines such as carpentry, furniture repair, painting, minor electrical work, plumbing, or related skills.

- Attention to detail: Precision and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Excellent communication skills: Ability to clearly explain technical issues to non-technical clients.
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites.

Qualifications
Bonus points for the following experience and skills:
- Furniture repair and wood finishing/wood finish repair: Knowledge of wood types, finishes, and restoration techniques.
- Formal training or certifications in repair disciplines.
- Upholstery: Skills in fabric repair, reupholstering, and working with various upholstery materials.
- Diagnosing and repairing electro-mechanical devices: Familiarity with electrical systems, motors, sensors, and other electro-mechanical components.
