Field Project Manager (Data Centers) - Dallas, TX
Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven, and forward-thinking Field Project Manager to join our team. This role involves installation, programming, system start-up/check-out, certification, and customer training on assigned Fire, Security, and/or Building Automation projects. You will work with management and the administrative project team to ensure projects are executed within contractual scope, budget, and schedule. This role requires over 50% travel.
About the role
As a Field Project Manager, you will oversee site management of projects to ensure timely completion within budget and scope. You will supervise Project Specialists, Installers, and subcontractors, and may perform managerial duties such as mentoring and planning. You will coordinate subcontractor activities, assist in project coordination, identify risks, and ensure installation quality meets national and local codes. Additionally, you will install, program, test, repair, and service systems, act as a key technical support and training interface for customers, and perform other duties as required.
Responsibilities
- Oversee overall site management of project(s) for successful and timely completion within budget and scope.
- Work with the Project Coordinator to prepare project installation plans and implement job procedures.
- Supervise Project Specialists, Installers, and subcontractors in the field; perform managerial responsibilities including mentoring, coaching, and planning.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, directing on-site activities and verifying quality assurance standards.
- Assist in the overall coordination of specific projects, recommend potential changes in scope, and identify ways to improve customer satisfaction.
- Identify potential project risks, communicate them to appropriate parties, and assist in developing strategies to minimize impact.
- Ensure overall quality of installation in accordance with national and local codes and company standards.
- Install, program, test, repair, and service systems including security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation.
- Act as the key interface for technical support and training for customers to maximize satisfaction.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
Requirements
- Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure while maintaining awareness of customer needs.
- Strong supervision skills and installation experience related to building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot problems and find solutions; must be a self-starter who works well without supervision.
- Advanced mechanical and electrical aptitude, including working with hand and power tools, reading blueprints, and advanced math skills.
- Frequent visits to jobsites with minimal overnight travel required; valid driver’s license.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Advanced organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Highly proficient computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Qualifications
- Education: College degree, trade school, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred (but not required): Experience in electronic, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation industries.
