About the Role

Convergint is seeking a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven, and forward-thinking Field Project Manager to join our team. In this role, you will oversee the installation, programming, system start-up/check-out, certification, and related customer training on assigned Fire, Security, and/or Building Automation projects. You will work with management and the administrative project team to ensure projects are effectively executed within contractual scope, budgeted cost, and time schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee overall site management of project(s) for successful and timely completion within budget and scope of work as required by the contract.
  • Work with the Project Coordinator to prepare project installation plans and implement job procedures.
  • Supervise Project Specialists, Installers, and subcontractors in the field, including managerial responsibilities such as mentoring, coaching, and developing colleagues; planning, assigning, and directing work.
  • Recruit and hire Project Specialists and Installers; directly responsible for the performance management of all direct reports.
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, including directing on-site activities and verifying quality assurance standards.
  • Work closely with the Project Coordinator to assist in the overall coordination of specific projects; make recommendations regarding potential changes in scope and identify ways to continuously improve customer satisfaction.
  • Identify potential project risks, communicate to appropriate parties, and assist in developing and implementing strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines.
  • Ensure overall quality of the installation in accordance with national and local codes and company standards.
  • Install, program, test, repair, and service a variety of systems and equipment, which may include security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation.
  • Act as the key interface for technical support and training for the customer, ensuring maximum customer satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

Requirements

  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure while maintaining awareness of customer needs.
  • Strong supervision skills and installation experience related to building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot problems and find solutions; must be a self-starter and work well without supervision.
  • Advanced mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g., working with hand and power tools such as drills, screwdrivers, wire strippers, hacksaws, crimpers) and ability to read blueprints and drawings; advanced math skills (e.g., calculating area, velocity, resistance, voltage).
  • Frequent visits to jobsites are required; minimal overnight travel is required. Valid driver’s license is mandatory.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Advanced organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Highly proficient computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Qualifications

  • Education: College degree, trade school, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum Experience: 5-7 years of relevant experience.
  • Relevant trade designation (e.g., Electrician) preferred.
  • Preferred (but not required): Associate degree in Electronics; experience in one or more of the following industries: electronic, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation.
