Field Project Manager 2

About the Role

Convergint is seeking a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven, and forward-thinking Field Project Manager to join our team. In this role, you will oversee the installation, programming, system start-up/check-out, certification, and customer training for assigned Fire, Security, and/or Building Automation projects. You will collaborate with management and the administrative project team to ensure projects are executed effectively within contractual scope, budget, and schedule.

Responsibilities

• Oversee overall site management of project(s) for successful and timely completion within budget and scope of work as required by the contract.
• Work with the Project Coordinator to prepare project installation plans and implement job procedures.
• Supervise Project Specialists, Installers, and subcontractors in the field, including mentoring, coaching, and developing colleagues.
• Recruit and hire Project Specialists and Installers; manage performance of all direct reports.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, directing on-site activities and verifying quality assurance standards.
• Assist in the overall coordination of specific projects, recommend changes in scope, and identify ways to improve customer satisfaction.
• Identify potential project risks, communicate them to appropriate parties, and assist in developing strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and deadlines.
• Ensure overall quality of installations in accordance with national and local codes and company standards.
• Install, program, test, repair, and service systems and equipment, including security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation.
• Serve as the key interface for technical support and training for customers, maximizing customer satisfaction.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

Requirements

• Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure while maintaining awareness of customer needs.
• Strong supervision skills and installation experience related to building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot problems and find solutions.
• Must be a self-starter and work well without supervision.
• Advanced mechanical and electrical aptitude, including the ability to use hand and power tools (e.g., drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper) and read blueprints and drawings.
• Advanced math skills (e.g., calculating area, velocity, resistance, voltage).
• Frequent visits to jobsites are required; minimal overnight travel may be needed.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Advanced organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Highly proficient computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Must have experience with security programming.

Qualifications

• Education: College degree, trade school, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum Experience: 5-7 years of relevant experience.
• Relevant trade designation (e.g., Electrician).
• Preferred (but not required): Associate degree in Electronics; experience in electronic, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation industries.
