Field Project Engineer

About the role
Syblon Reid is looking for a Field Project Engineer to support our Project Manager and field crews on heavy civil construction projects. This role is an important part of keeping project work moving safely, accurately, and efficiently. The Field Project Engineer helps connect the work happening in the field with the planning, documentation, communication, production tracking, and problem-solving needed to support successful project execution.

Responsibilities
- Promote and support project safety programs, processes, and safety culture
- Prepare and track submittals and RFIs
- Support project scheduling
- Track and report field production, cost estimates, and invoices
- Maintain QC program documentation
- Coordinate with subcontractors
- Prepare quantity take-offs and pricing
- Procure materials
- Support field employees and project crews
- Conduct pre-bid and project field visits
- Travel overnight as project needs require
Requirements
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent Project Coordination experience
- 1–5 years of Field Project experience in a heavy civil construction environment
- Strong written communication, organization, follow-through, problem-solving, and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Comfortable working in the field, walking uneven surfaces, lifting and carrying up to 75 lbs., and supporting project needs in changing environments
- Proficiency with MS Project, Excel, and Word
- Experience with HeavyBid, HeavyJob, Primavera, or AutoCAD is preferred
- Current driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Authorized to work in the United States
Experience with federal contracting is a big plus.
