Field Procurement Representative - Beech Island, SC
About the role
The Field Procurement Representative is responsible for executing field procurement activities in direct support of onsite construction projects. This role works closely with field construction teams, project management, engineering, logistics, and suppliers to ensure timely, cost-effective acquisition of materials, equipment, and services required at the job site.
Responsibilities
- Source project materials/supplies, equipment, rentals, and construction services as requisitioned by the project and execute purchase orders in support of onsite construction activities.
- Prepare documents for bidding, evaluation, negotiations, pre-award and post-award activities for field procurement.
- Execute approved requisitions into accurate and complete purchase orders in accordance with relevant Corporate, Project and Supply Chain procedures.
- Ensure pricing, scope, delivery requirements, and commercial terms are aligned with approved requisitions and contracts.
- Carefully coordinate field procurement process activities with other groups within the team including Project Controls, Legal, BV Fleet, Risk Management, etc.
- Work directly with site construction teams, superintendents, and project managers to understand near term and long term field procurement needs.
- Support expediting, delivery coordination, and issue resolution to meet construction schedules.
- Respond quickly to urgent field procurement needs while maintaining compliance with established processes.
- Basic training of process and programs with project individuals (Supply Chain procedures, Oracle, etc.)
- Communicate with suppliers regarding orders, delivery schedules, documentation, and site requirements.
- Carefully coordinate with Suppliers on logistics, shipping instructions, and onsite delivery constraints.
- Aid in supplier performance tracking, issue resolution, and corrective actions as needed.
- Maintain accurate field procurement records and file in our documentation repository.
- Support audit readiness by ensuring documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant.
- Adhere to company field procurement policies, ethical standards, and delegated authority limits.
- Ensure purchases comply with project contracts, client requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Proactively communicate field procurement risks, delays, or constraints to project stakeholders.
- Act as a liaison between the field, procurement, logistics, and financial teams.
- Participate in project meetings related to field procurement status, material availability, and risk mitigation.
Requirements
- Minimum of three (3) years experience without a degree
- OSHA and any other mandatory training should an onsite position be assigned
Qualifications
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Purchasing, Business, Construction Management, or a related field or equivalent field procurement experience.
- Relevant experience may be substituted for a degree
- Experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain support for construction, industrial, or capital projects.
- Working knowledge of purchase orders, requisitions, and supplier coordination.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced field environment.
- Advanced experience supporting onsite or field-based construction projects.
- Familiarity with ERP or procurement systems (e.g., Oracle or similar platforms).
- Advanced understanding of construction materials, equipment rentals, and field services.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional project teams.
