Job Summary

May Mobility is entering an exciting phase of growth as we expand our autonomous vehicle and mobility services across the nation. We are seeking a Field Operations Trainer to deliver hands-on, in-vehicle training to our Autonomous Vehicle Operators and Test Drivers at various sites.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Become an expert at operating May vehicles while occasionally driving research vehicles for training purposes.
  • Deliver standardized Autonomous Vehicle Operator training programs at site operations across the country, including classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel sessions.
  • Conduct on-route ride-alongs, evaluations, and safety check-offs to certify new operators before they begin revenue service.
  • Provide one-on-one coaching, feedback, and refresher training to reinforce safe operating procedures and customer service best practices for riders.
  • Travel to new launch sites and existing site operations to support operator training, typically in 2-3 week deployments.
  • Document trainee progress, certification results, and field observations and report back to the Field Operations Training Manager.
  • Follow standardized training procedures and materials consistently across sites; flag improvement ideas to the Training Manager rather than altering programs in the field.

Skills and Abilities

  • Flexibility and adaptability to maintain focus on training goals despite changing site conditions, weather, and schedules.
  • Comfort navigating and learning new roads, neighborhoods, and service areas quickly.
  • Strong communication skills, able to clearly explain procedures and give in-the-moment coaching.
  • Technical savviness — comfortable with computers, tablets, mobile apps, and learning new vehicle and software systems.
  • Travel proficiency — comfortable living out of a suitcase for weeks at a time.
  • Ability to travel 2-3 weeks at a time to field offices, up to 95% of the year.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills across multiple platforms.
  • Ability to work effectively with team members at all levels of the organization.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record for at least 3 years.
  • Comfortable using documents, spreadsheets, presentations, mobile apps, and learning new digital tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow process consistently and approach problems in a methodical manner.

Desirable

  • Prior experience training, coaching, or mentoring others (formal or informal — fleet, transit, hospitality, retail, military, etc.).
  • Experience as a professional driver, fleet driver, transit operator, CDL holder, or driving instructor.
  • Exposure to the autonomous vehicle, robotics, or connected-vehicle space.
  • CPR certified.
  • Comfort with vehicle telematics, fleet management software, or basic vehicle diagnostics.
  • Current passport - prepared for potential international training deployments.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged sitting (including in vehicles during ride-alongs and on-route training).
  • Prolonged standing.
  • Prolonged computer use.

Travel Required

Extensive: up to 95%
