About the role
Protecnium is an international firm specializing in engineering and technical services. We are currently looking for a Field/Office MEP Surveyor to join our team for a construction project in Norfolk, Virginia. The position is estimated to last 1 year, with the possibility of placement on other projects afterward to provide continuity.
Responsibilities
- Perform field surveying tasks inside the tunnel, focusing on verification, setting-out, and geometric control of:
- Pipelines (water, drainage, ventilation, etc.)
- Cable trays, wiring, and low/medium voltage electrical installations
- Associated electromechanical equipment
- Conduct regular surveys and checks to verify clearances, tolerances, and the location of installations according to design drawings
- Coordinate with engineering and construction teams to monitor the progress of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing) installations
- Process and review field data using office-based surveying software, preferably AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Trimble Business Center
- Prepare technical reports on progress and any deviations detected
- Support the Chief Surveyor in general tasks and in maintaining the project's topographic database
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Field/Office Surveyor on tunnelling projects, linear works, roads, structures, heavy civil construction or similar
- Experience with MEP installations
- Specific experience in tunnel installations is an asset, but not mandatory
- Proficiency in total stations, levels, and GNSS equipment
- Proficient in office surveying software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Trimble Business Center)
- Ability to read and interpret electromechanical and civil works drawings
- High accuracy and attention to detail in environments with tight tolerances
- Ability to work in confined spaces and underground construction conditions
- Strong teamwork and communication skills with different departments
- Physical ability to handle and transport surveying equipment (total station, tripods, and accessories) weighing up to 25 kg occasionally
Schedule
Monday to Friday, 10 hours daily.
