Field Networks Engineer

Job Overview

Our client is looking for an experienced Field Networks Engineer to join the team in Houston, TX. This is a 6‑month contract‑to‑hire position (not open to 3rd‑party C2C consultants; visa sponsorship is not available). The role supports a wide area along the Gulf Coast, includes 25% travel, and is hands‑on with a strong focus on Cisco/Meraki, Microsoft Hyper‑V, AWS, networking, and onsite IT support.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide Tier 2/3 support.
• Travel to other locations as needed (approximately 25% of time).
• Support Cisco/Meraki devices (MX75, 250, up to Gigabit or Catalyst).
• Manage Microsoft Hyper‑V environments, including clustering, live migration, and replication.
• Administer AWS services such as EC2, RDS, S3, and VPC.
• Perform Windows Server and Linux administration.
• Handle networking tasks: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, and VPNs.
• Support Microsoft 365 suite (Entra ID, Exchange Online, Teams, Intune).
• Implement backup, disaster‑recovery, and security solutions.
• Own projects from design through implementation.
• Lift/install network equipment and perform cabling/low‑voltage work.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of IT infrastructure/system administration experience.
• Hands‑on Cisco/Meraki experience (MX75, 250, up to Gigabit or Catalyst).
• Strong Microsoft Hyper‑V experience, including clustering, live migration, and replication.
• Hands‑on AWS experience with EC2, RDS, S3, and VPC.
• Windows Server and Linux administration experience.
• Strong networking knowledge: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, and VPNs.
• Microsoft 365 experience with Entra ID, Exchange Online, Teams, and Intune.
• Backup/disaster‑recovery and security experience.
• Strong troubleshooting and customer‑service skills.
• Ability to own projects from design through implementation.
• Ability to lift/install network equipment and perform cabling/low‑voltage work.

Pay

Estimated pay range: $59.90 – $64.90 per hour (adjusted for geographic differential as applicable).
