Field Network Engineer

Job Description

Persistent Systems is seeking a Field Network Engineer with strong networking and systems engineering experience to support complex mobile ad-hoc networking (MANET) challenges across cloud, on-premises, and tactical deployments. The role involves working with external stakeholders and cross-functional teams to deploy and troubleshoot cloud-based routing architectures, Linux and Cisco infrastructure, and physical networking hardware in mission-critical environments.

Responsibilities

• Implement and support network solutions utilizing Wave Relay® and Cloud Relay™ technologies, including industry standard protocols like Ethernet, MACsec, IPsec, VPN, EIGRP, OSPF, PIM, and IGMP
• Support and facilitate the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and monitoring of network and communications equipment, including Wave Relay® and Cloud Relay™ suite of products
• Motivate and coordinate field teams with hands-on troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex networking systems
• Respond to RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, and other formal requests to drive new business opportunities
• Develop Network solutions to prospective customers' technical requirements using Wave Relay® and Cloud Relay™, CoTS, or other cloud-based technologies

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum Qualifications: 4+ years of experience in network engineering, strong understanding of network concepts, layer 2 and layer 3 networking, Cisco and Linux networking concepts, and tools for data gathering such as Wireshark, iPerf, TCPdump, etc.
• Must be available to travel at least 75% of the time and able to obtain a United States Security Clearance
• Preferred Qualifications: Previous deployment experience in hazard zones or non-permissive environments, strong understanding or experience with tactical / mobile communications systems, 6+ years of experience in Network Engineering, strong understanding of the Linux networking stack and related software suites, experience with MANET or Wave Relay® technologies, DoD 8570 Certified IAT Level 2 / DoD 8140 411, 441, or 651, Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Network Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field, Cisco Certified Networking Professional (CCNP), or similar certification or experience, AWS Certified Advanced Networking Specialty certification or similar certification or experience
