About the role
Tennant Company is a global leader in cleaning equipment, dedicated to creating a cleaner, safer, and healthier world. Our Service team, consisting of over 500 technicians in the US and Canada, plays a crucial role in maintaining and repairing Tennant products and similar models.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic system, and combustion engine issues on customer-owned Tennant products and similar competitor models.
- Plan and execute daily service activities, including scheduling appointments with customers, communicating service expectations, timelines, billing, and future service needs.
- Create and maintain detailed records of all service activities and business reporting documentation.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of all Tennant Company property, including the company vehicle, tools, parts, inventory, and equipment.
- Collaborate with internal partners such as sales, customer service, technical assistance, field service support, and other technicians to enhance your success.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- A valid driver's license meeting Tennant Company's driving policy requirements.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience:
- Troubleshooting and repairing combustion engines (LP, Diesel, or Gas).
- Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical systems.
- Using hand and power shop tools, equipment, and diagnostic devices.
- Using a personal computer, MS Office Suite, and email.
Preferred Experience
- Vocational schooling in automotive/diesel/electrical.
- Previous experience and knowledge working on mobile equipment (forklifts, heavy equipment, etc.).
- Previous experience working directly with customers.
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift up to 60 pounds, with most items weighing between 2 and 20 pounds.
- Occasionally required to lift items weighing up to 90 pounds, with assistance provided for heavier items.
- Frequent sitting, standing, twisting, reaching, pushing, and pulling, bending, stooping, kneeling, or squatting daily.
- Daily driving of a van to and from customer sites, including frequent driving times of 3+ hours daily.
