Field Mechanic

Columbia Helicopters has been providing heavy-lift helicopter services for over 65 years. Our mission is to ensure our clients are mission-ready for critical operations through the creation of new aircraft, global flight operations, and maintenance support.
Responsibilities
- Maintains the aircraft to ensure airworthy conditions
- Conducts on the job training to other employees
- Ensures entries in log books and forms are accurate and maintained to FAA and Columbia standards
- Performs maintenance on ground support equipment
- Crawls under, works overhead, and climbs onto the top of the helicopter
- Lifts aircraft components and support equipment
- Travels with assigned aircraft
- Be punctual at all times and on location as needed
- Practices safety in all areas and occasions and support the team for their own safety
- Ensure the team and our customers' needs, and expectations are always met, often exceeded
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid driver's license
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate
- Minimum of 2.5 years of practical maintenance experience or graduation from an FAA-approved aviation maintenance school (preferred)
- Ability to obtain medical clearance for work in foreign countries, when required
- Valid U.S. passport, or the ability to obtain one
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally, including work in remote locations
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while operating within designated authority limits
- Demonstrates sound judgment and decision-making in all work situations
- Ability to lift 20–100 lbs, carry 20–75 lbs, and push or pull loads up to and exceeding 250 lbs
- Ability to bend, squat, stand, walk, and reach above, below, and at shoulder level
- Ability to perform repetitive use of arms, wrists, and hands for extended periods (67–100% of the workday)
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme heat or cold, dusty and noisy environments, and on uneven surfaces
- Ability to work long hours and multiple consecutive days performing physically demanding work
- Ability to travel and operate in unpressurized aircraft at altitudes up to 30,000 feet
